πΊπΈπ»π¦ Servant of God Thomas Frederick Price
Cofounder, Maryknoll (August 19, 1860 - September 12, 1919)
Thomas Frederick Price was born in 1860 in North Carolina , the child of Catholic converts. He would become the first Catholic priest ordained in that thoroughly Protestant state, a fact that helped inspire his great zeal for mission. Determined to spread the Catholic faith among his fellow "tar heels" he trudged throughout his native state, door to door πͺfarm to farm π¨πΎ contenting himself to spread the faith one soul at a time.

In 1910 at the Eucharist Congress in Montreal he met Fr. James Anthony Walsh , director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith in Boston . Together they conceived the idea of founding a mission seminary to recruit & train American priests for overseas mission, particularly in China
At a time when the USA had itself only recently emerged from the status of mission territory, this was a bold plan. Nevertheless, in 1911 they received support from the US bishops & from Rome to establish the Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America - popularly known as Maryknoll .

Heavenly Father, You so inspired Father Thomas Frederick Price with love for You and zeal for the Gospel that he dedicated his life to serve You and Your Church, first in North Carolina, his home state, and then in the foreign missions. Grant that by his example we may grow in holiness and into a deeper union with Our Lord Jesus Christ. Help us to be authentic witnesses of the Gospel and proclaim the Holy Name of Jesus throughout the Diocese of Raleigh and to all the people and in all the places we are sent to love and serve.
If it be according to Your Will, glorify Your servant, Father Thomas Frederick Price, by granting the favor I (we) now request through his prayerful intercession (mention your request here)
I (we) make this prayer confidently through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
