Rep Michelle Bachmann is fighting off attacks from the DNC media and RINOs, but still has a few vocal supporters from the remnant of the VRWC on radio and blogs: both  Mark Levin and  Rush Limbaugh:

Her name was Huma Weiner, really, married to Anthony Weiner, the disgraced sex-crazed congressman from New York. So her real name is Huma Weiner. But Huma's mother is best friends with the wife of the new Muslim Brotherhood president Egypt, and there is essentially a Muslim sisterhood that she's a member of, and Huma's father was also likewise involved. So Michele Bachmann and others have written a letter to the State Department wanting some clarification and wanting an investigation because the Muslim Brotherhood is not what they are portrayed to be. The Muslim Brotherhood is not the -- what's the best way to put this? They're not the good Mafia. The Muslim Brotherhood's being portrayed as a bunch of secularist, mainstream, nonradical, and Andy says, no, they're not, they are right down the middle as radical as anybody else in jihad. So it's a legitimate request from Michele Bachmann.

These attacks on Huma have no logic, no basis, and no merit. And they need to stop now.”

Oh, really? Bachmann had sent a 16-page letter to Keith Ellison, the only Muslim congressman, outlining her concerns:

“The concerns about the foreign influence of immediate family members is such a concern to the U.S. Government that it includes these factors as potentially disqualifying conditions for obtaining a security clearance, which undoubtedly Ms. Abedin has had to obtain to function in her position. For us to raise issues about a highly-based U.S. Government official with known immediate family connections to foreign extremist organizations is not a question of singling out Ms. Abedin. In fact, these questions are raised by the U.S. Government of anyone seeking a security clearance.”

This is absolutely correct. Abedin’s father, Syed Z. Abedin, founded the Institute for Muslim Minority Affairs, an organization supported by the Muslim World League, a Brotherhood organization. Her mother, Saleha Mahmoud Abedin, is a member of the Muslim Sisterhood.

 Andrew McCarthy, author of "The Grand Jihad":

The Arizonan took to the Senate floor this week to lambaste five conservative members of the House who, unlike McCain, are actually serious about addressing threats the Brotherhood poses to American interests. McCain’s bipartisan “Islamic democracy” promoters seem content to keep burning through taxpayer trillions until the Brotherhood is finally running every government in the Middle East. To the contrary, the House conservatives — Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Louie Gohmert (Texas), Trent Franks (Ariz.), Tom Rooney (Fla.), and Lynn Westmorland (Ga.) — have concluded that the Brotherhood needs to be regarded as the serious anti-American business that it is.

From Spencer in above interview: McCain complains that she doesn't have any evidence, but she's calling for an investigation to either confirm or deny the existence of any evidence. Hence, it's a Catch 22.

McCain is cavalier, lax and sloppy with the facts about the greatest threat facing our nation. Bachmann should be lauded and applauded. And Congress should be pressing for the prosecution of Muslim Brotherhood groups named as such in the captured internal document released during the Holy Land Foundation trial.

Somewhat ott, people denounce Eugene McCarthy, although, his purported paranoia was well founded. With the decoding of the KGB Venona memos, it was confirmed that every department in FDR's admin was compromised with Soviet spies:

It's SOP to undergo background checks to receive a government security clearance. The background check includes investigating not only the individual's associations, but friends, relatives, and aquaintances associations, as well.

For example, during WWII, the American effort to decode the German engima machine was led by an American of German descent, Joseph Desch, whose wife had dubious relations back in Germany. This led to the US Navy placing a Capt Ralph Meader in Desch's house to spy on him 24/7:

As far as the current administration is concerned, Rep Bachmann has a right to be skeptical, since the Obama admin green lit a Green Czar with a red past:
