Apparently, anthropomorphic global warming creates anthropomorphic trees.

Rep Edward Markey (D-MA) stated in the Friday 20 July 2012 US House hearing on Wildfire Risk Reduction, Forest Health Improvement Bills, and I paraphrase only slightly, ( it's  approx 2:01:43 in CSPAN video if you wish to double check)





"Global warming is what's causing the Vermont and New England maple trees to move farther and farther North towards Canada". Really? Markey didn't elaborate as to whether this purported Great Maple Tree Migration was permanent, or just an annual phenomena. Presumably, Massachusetts Board of Tourism and the Mass Maple Producers Assoc will lose money from leaf peeper tourists once all their maple trees head for the Great White North. However, one would expect the lost revenue will be superseded by curiosity seekers wishing to witness  Massachusetts maple tree groves schlepping en masse to New Brunswick.

Last weekend provided odd synergy & synchronicity when CSPAN re-aired their booktv interview with Jonah Goldberg concerning his new book, The Tyranny of Clichés: How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas. Simultaneously, CET re-aired their Drexel interview with John Waters concerning his new book, Role Models. Somewhat ironically, contrary to the title of Mr. Goldberg's previous book, John Waters, whilst a liberal, did not appears to be a liberal fascist. Rather than spouting the official party line that Tea Partiers are evil racist monsters, Waters seemed bemused by what he viewed as public political theater & welcomed the diversity in dialogue. Hence, Waters seems to be one of the few libs who believes that the 1st Amendment applies to everyone, not just with consenting opinions.

Also, oddly enough, both authors made Howard Hughes Kleenex box shoe jokes in their respective interviews. Perhaps Waters & Goldberg were twins separated at birth from parallel universes...
