Saints Who Were Devoted to Saint Joseph
As a young student Joseph Pelczar wrote, "Earthly ideals are fading away. I see the ideal in sacrifice, & the ideal of sacrifice in priesthood." Ordained at 22, then earning doctorates in theology & canon law he became rector of the Jagellonian University the oldest university in Poland

A man who cultivated his great talents for the service of God & neighbor, Pelczar wrote with special tenderness about the immense love of God "If necessary, the Lord, instead of 3 hours, would have hung on the cross until the last Day of Judgement. His love is eternal & would have accomplished it." He founded a congregation of sisters whose mission was to make known the love of the Heart of Jesus : the Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
Pelczar presented Saint Joseph as a preeminent example of the consecrated life. Saint Joseph "renounced the dignity of fatherhood," living "a life of mortification & chastity." Though a descendant of kings, "he worked every day for a living Jesus being all his wealth." He "could convert the world, & yet he enclosed himself in a small town, being completely devoted to Jesus." The meditation concludes, "Do you have similar virtues?"
Pelczar served as Bishop ♗ of PrzemyΕl for near 25 years, dying in the odor of sanctity on 28 March 1924.
Almighty Father, grant all religious the virtues of Saint Joseph , that they may make known the infinite love you have for each person
