🇪🇸 🇻🇦 Saint Braulio of Zaragoza
Bishop (✝️ 651 Anno Domini A.D.) Feast: March 26
Saints Who Were Leaders

Braulio came from a noble family in Spain . He grew up in the household of his brother, the Bishop of Zaragoza ♗ ⛪ & in 631 A.D. succeeded him. In the face of the Arian heresy that had taken hold of many, Braulio offered careful & consistent teaching 👨‍🏫

Braulio 's desire for the salvation of souls sprang from a deep attachment to the person of Christ  :jesus: To keep himself fit for his service, Braulio chose to live poorly. His dress was plain & his food plainer; anything extra was given to the poor.

When Braulio preached 🗣️ it was said, his people saw the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove perched on his shoulder 🕊️ 44 of his letters 📝 have come down to us: they show a man with a warm heart 💗 ready to console.

Braulio brought this same affection to his friendship with Saint Isidore , the Bishop of Seville . Braulio encouraged Isidore to write his encyclopedic "Etymologies" ✍️ 📕 a repository of ancient wisdom & learning 🦉

Braulio 's account of the life of Saint Emilian shows his own personal understanding of & commitment to silent prayer 🙏 Drawing always from this inner source, he continued to lead others until his death in 651 A.D.. "Let all our love be directed to Christ , " 💗🔛 :jesus:he once wrote to his sister, "all our energies channeled into serving him, so that interiorly we may be consoled by him who suffered for us & will never leave us to ourselves."
