Pastor : Then the people who live here now have to defend that they even have a right to be here. So for the greatest nation in the history of the world, the United State of America, to take a move to say, "We're going to respect the wishes of the people who belong there, in the land, and honor their choice of their capital." Every sovereign nation has the right to choice where their capital is. The Jewish people choose Jerusalem. Why? Because David built Jerusalem.
History Lesson: King David, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, established #Jerusalem in 1010 BCE!#EmbassyMove— Ensaf haidar (@miss9afi) May 14, 2018
Pastor: And so they said lets...so when the United States says, "Let's move our embassy there as a sign that we believe you belong there," that's a huge endorsement. You know, Matt, just quickly, one more thing that really touches me is a few years ago I was here on a tour with some friends and I met like the real Indiana Jones archaeologist of Israel known by every Israeli here, a national hero. And he was conducting a dig there on Zion and they've since uncovered David's palace etc. So I said to him...he took me in, it [a museum?] wasn't even open yet...and I said, "This is amazing! You have more archaeology going on in this country than anywhere I've ever seen!" And he said to me, "Pastor Mike, with all due respect, we're not doing this for tourists to have new things to look at. We're doing this to prove that we were here a long time ago."
Crouch: Wow, wow.
Pastor: That's why this is a great celebration day.

In fairness Democrat @AlanDersh went to Jerusalem for the USA embassy opening 🇺🇸🇮🇱 pic.twitter.com/Wl80qZGvKh— 🎼AdagioForStrings🎻 (@adagioforstring) May 15, 2018
Alan Dershowitz: Well, it was wonderful to see Jews and Christians and others celebrating the right decision. America leads the way. I hope the rest of the world will follow. This is a good first step towards peace, peace with justice, peace with strength through Israel...so it's a wonderful day!
Matt Crouch: Your personal thoughts. Were you for this and supported it?
Dershowitz: I was very much for it. I very much supported it. And I became very enthusiastic to have it done now after the [UN] Security Council resolution of December 2016 when the Security Council ruled that the Jewish Quarter and the Western Wall [the retaining wall for the base of the Jewish Temple] were illegally occupied. It was very important at that point for the United States and the new [ Trump ] administration to rebuke that Security Council resolution and recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital is a very good way to do it.
Democrat @JoeLieberman was also in Jerusalem for the opening of the USA embassy 🇺🇸🇮🇱 & specifically thanked @realDonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/e7UweJYJCi— 🎼AdagioForStrings🎻 (@adagioforstring) May 15, 2018
Lieberman: Well, it was a thrill. I must say I'm personally grateful to Ambassador Friedman for remembering that I was active in supporting the Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act back in 1995. It was broadly bipartisan. A lot of people supported it for the reason that was said today - it's the truth
✂️---------------------------------------
Saying support for USA moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem was "broadly bipartisan" is something of an understatement S. 1322 (104th): Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 passed 86% Yea vs 9% Nay.
✂️---------------------------------------
Lieberman: How do we say to one of our best allies in the world is Israel, "We're not going to do for you what we do everywhere else in the world - put our embassy in your capital." Members of Congress did it but for various reasons that were not ever convincing to me presidents since then, 23 years since the law was adopted!, have found an excuse for not implementing it. So.....thank you, President Trump and I'm speaking as a Democrat. Independent minded, but you've got to speak the truth. President Trump had the courage, and really, in the way, the confidence to do what was right.

Matt Crouch: What do you think ...can you help me understand why the other presidents wouldn't do it? What was the rationale? What would they be standing here saying?
Lieberman; Well, this all started with President Clinton. You know, he was and is a friend of mine, but the idea was somehow actually moving our embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing the truth that Jerusalem is Israel's capital would hurt the peace process. That was nonsense! First off, we do it everywhere else in the world. Secondly, the US government has a piece of land that is here temporarily for our embassy in Jerusalem it's on land that's been Israeli since 1948. So, what I'm saying is, if there were negotiations that relate to the boundaries of the city of Jerusalem, it's not going to relate to the land that the embassy of the US would be on so it was always a false issue. It just took a president who said "I'm ready to take the consequences. I'm going to do what's right." Maybe it's the reason that somebody who is unconventional without the, you might say...he came to office without any accumulated baggage.
Crouch: I like that word, "unconventional"! That's a proper way to say it! Let's show off our hats
Crouch: We were together at a historic event.
