There a couple paintings at the beginning of "Grantchester" Season 1: Episode 6 that the characters Sydney and Amanda admire:
The first:
Appears to be a fuzzy version of Philips Wouwerman on Polish-Swedish "Deluge" from Dariusz caballeros's SUNDAY, JANUARY 16, 2011 post "Baroque painting - Philips Wouwerman"
Guard: Morning, Miss Kendall
Amanda: Morning, Albert
Sidney: Do you work here?
Amanda: Restoration. And you? Look at you!
Sidney: Who'd of thought it, eh?
Amanda: Who'd of thought? [ referring to Wouwerman painting] It's a dreary old thing, isn't it?
Sidney: No, it's not dreary. It's....[ laughing] It's desperately dreary!
The second painting Sidney and Amanda comment on:
appears to be a painting by Jan Gossart of "An Elderly Couple" painted in 1520 from "Man, Myth, and Sensual Pleasures: Jan Gossart's Renaissance" Metropolitan slideshow
Sidney: [referring to Gossart painting] She's down in the dumps
Amanda: So would he be if he were married to him
Sidney: I think he forgot to put his teeth in this morning
Amanda: I think she knows where they are but she has no intention of telling him [both laugh]
[an onlooker stares at them both]
Sidney: [addressing the man glaring at them] It's alright, she works here [man shakes his head]

And as Bob Ross says, "Every day is a good day when you paint!"
