Venerable Nano Nagle
Founder , Presentation Sister (c. 1718 – 26 April 1784 Anno Domini A.D. )
Honora Nagle, known as Nano, was born in a small town in County Cork , Ireland . Though she came from a wealthy family, like all Irish Catholics she felt the repressive burden of England 's 
penal laws-a set of punitive restrictions on the faith & liberties of Irish Catholics designed to demoralize & weaken a defeated people
Apart from banishing all bishops & religious orders from Ireland , the English penal laws abolished all Catholic schools 
Nano 's early education was in one of the illegal "hedge schools" that proliferated in the countryside. Eventually she found the means to travel to Paris 
where she quickly adapted to the pleasures of high society. She was, by her own account, "a lover of the world, & of vanity."

Upon the death of Nano 's parents she returned to Ireland . Becoming aware for the 1st time of the misery of her people, she felt that her life was being called to a higher purpose. In Cork , she risked imprisonment 
& even death 
by establishing a network of clandestine schools 
As more women came to join her she chose to establish a religious order devoted to serving the poor in every way.

In 1775 A.D. Nano founded the Presentation Order, which eventually numbered many thousands, not only in Ireland but also in the West Indies & North America . By the time of her death on A.D. April 26, 1784, her work was known & revered throughout Ireland & beyond. Her life is best summed up in her own motto: "Not words, but deeds."

Prayer for the Canonization of Nano: 
O God, Who enkindled in the heart of your servant, Nano Nagle, the fire of your love 
and a consuming desire to serve You in any part of the world, grant that we also may love You, and make you much loved. And if it be for the glory of God, and the salvation of souls, grant that soon she may be raised to the altars of your Church. Through Christ our Lord.
