Virgin & Doctor ( 1380 Anno Domini A.D.) Feast: 29 April
Saints Who Overcame Temptation
Catherine was the 24th child born to a well-off Sienese family. At the age of 6, she had a vision of Christ that awakened her vivid life of prayer When her decision to remain a virgin led her family to treat her unkindly, she took refuge in the cell of her heart

Catherine received a profound understanding of God's love & a zeal for manifesting it in the world. She joined the Dominican Third Order, served the poor, & worked to end division through prayer fasting, & exhortation. She died at the age of 33, having offered all her sufferings for the unity of the Church then in schism

Then Christ came "Lord, where were you when my heart was so tormented?" Catherine asked him. Jesus then told her that the sadness her temptations had given her was a sign that he had remained with her, defending her in her moment of need. "I was in the center of your heart " he said.
