He held the post of rector at the school for 2 decades, & narrowly escaped the illustrious position of Archbishop of Reims ♝ Around the age of 50, he retreated with a few companions to the frigid & remote valley of Chartreuse ๐Ÿ”️ There they lived as hermits, though joining each other at times for communal prayer ๐Ÿ™

Through solitude & silence ๐Ÿคซ they detached themselves from the goods of the world in order to be free to contemplate the goodness of God :jesus: Called to Rome by Pope Urban II ๐ŸŸ️ a former student, to serve as his counselor ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ’ผ Bruno was finally permitted to return to his beloved monastic life ⛪ on condition that he stay near to the pope in case he needed him. Bruno died at the monastery of Santa Maria della Torre in Calabria on 6 October, 1101 A.D.

Although Carthusians do not seek canonization-"Be a saint, rather than be called one"-he was added to the general Roman calendar ๐Ÿ—“️ by Pope Clement X in 1674 A.D. He is often depicted with the motto "O Bonitas" - "O Goodness."
