Etymology of a pick up line

Robert Sterling's character in "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" 1962 episode "House Guest"


used the same pick line Robert Benchley's character did on Ginger Rogers' character in the 1942 film "The Major and the Minor": "Why don't you slip out of those wet clothes and into a dry martini?":
