Specter did not vote for the Fugitive Slave Act

News Busted pointed out that the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, in order to convince Specter to switch parties (good riddance) & to help sell him to fellow Democrats, gave Specter credit for not voting in favor of a piece of legislation in 1974.

The minor detail is that Specter was not a member of Congress in 1974, since he did not start serving until 1981.

In the spirit of bipartisanship, and to help Scottish RINOs everywhere, I comprised a highlight list of other legislation that Specter also did not vote for:

1) Soviet liquidation of kulaks
2) Alien & Sedition Acts
3) Spanish Inquisition
4) Destruction of the Alexandrian Library
5) Execution of Socrates

UPDATE

Golly, after I wasted all that time powerpointing a Scottish RINO, Specter forces me to make a Benedict Arlen picture:

This may be a benefit in disguise. Toomey would probably have won the Republican primary. However, since Pennsylvania has become rather blue as of late, Toomey might well have lost the general election to a generic Democrat. Assuming Specter wins reelection, at least the next PA senator will be a blue dog Democrat/former squishy RINO, which would be better than an out and out Bolshevik. This is assuming that Specter doesn't develop a vendetta against his former GOP colleagues & seek to become the biggest socialist imaginable just out of pure spite.

Peg Luksik running against Specter in PA US Senate race

Bill Russell's congressional campaign manager, Peg Luksik, is planning on running against Arlen Specter in the 2010 Republican primary. Peg's core belief is that she is anti-fascist & anti-corporate-state:

The government holds its citizens through regulation and dependence and coercion. Government seeks to divide the society into smaller groups and families into separate individuals so it can pit one entity against the other and increase its power over all in the name of fairness. Government does not want citizens to solve their own problems through personal charity or initiative - it fosters conditions where everyone “needs” the state to survive.

UPDATE

Although Toomey hasn't openly committed to run for either US Senate or Pennsylvania Governor, Specter has pre-emptively attacked him.

Reason #5 to vote for Toomey over Specter in 2010

AFL-CIO is campaigning for Specter:

"We are pushing to give him help in the primary, including changing Democrats to Republicans for the primary," Mr. George told The Times. "It's hard to do because of other races in the state ... but we'll do it for 'card check.' "

Again, the innocent sounding "card check" will deprive union members of their secret ballot & subject them to union boss bullying.

Reason #4 to vote for Toomey over Specter in 2010

Specter voted FOR socialized medicine before he voted AGAINST it:

and wants old people, who aren't Pennsylvania senators, to drop dead quicker in order to save money:

Reason #3 to vote for Toomey over Specter in 2010

In a craven, amoral manner, Specter talked down the economy to push through porkopulus:

The nation is on the "brink of a depression," but there's a "reasonable chance" that the $787 billion economic stimulus package will help ease the situation, Sen. Arlen Specter said Monday.

Now that Obama and his bipartisan supporters of unprecedented deficit spending got their pork, they can pull an Emily Litella & cease and desist with their predictions of eminent economic collapse.

In a related headline, the Potbellied pig found wandering near Philly airport, upon closer inspection, just turned out to be the current senior senator from Pennsylvania.

UPDATE

Michael Reagan, talk show host and son of Ronald Reagan, has endorsed Toomey over Specter for senate.

Another reason to vote for Toomey over Specter in 2010

Specter still supports the Islamic Crescent of Embrace broken (by uppity infidels) Circle of Embrace Flight 93 Memorial (to al Qaeda).

We now know one of the payoffs that Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter received for being one of three Republican Senators who allowed President Obama’s trillion-dollar Spendulus bill to become law. WPXI in Pittsburgh reports that Specter has a 5.5 million dollar earmark for the crescent-shaped Flight 93 memorial in the omnibus spending bill just passed by the Senate.

Much as the people of Pennsylvania want to see a fitting memorial built, they yanked support for the crescent design in August 2007 after Tom Burnett Sr., father of Flight 93 hero Tom Jr., started warning the country that the memorial design is STILL packed to the gills with Islamic symbolism. Since that time the Memorial Project has hardly raised a dime

"Specter taking wait and see approach to card check issue"

Club for Growth was hoping that Card Check aka operation eliminate secret ballot, is losing momentum:

“If Republicans will work with us just a little bit, we could get it done before the August recess,” Reid said.

Three guesses One guess as to whom Reid referred. The disenguous characterization of the legislation from the local PBS affiliate:

Specter taking wait and see approach to card check issue

Pennsylvania's senior U.S. Senator is taking a wait-and-see approach when it comes to the controversial "card check" issue. Republican Arlen Specter says he's been hearing from both unions and businesses about the federal Employee Free Choice Act, which would make it easier to unionize workplaces. The proposal would allow a union to be certified when a majority of workers at a plant sign cards authorizing it.

WITF doesn't mention that card check eliminates the secret ballot & subjects people to work place bullying from union bosses. It's somewhat ironic when there are blue dog Democrats who are more conservative than a purported Republican senator.

UPDATE

Fraternal Order of Police Opposes "Card Check" Bill

"Without Federally supervised private ballot elections democracy would not exist. The United States is the world's model for democratic government," Canterbury said. "If passed into law this bill would set a dangerous precedent for our nation, and send a dangerous message for the rest of the world that the democratic system can be put aside in the service of selfish interests."
