Saints Who Were Devoted to Mary
Young Louis Grignion , who took Marie as his confirmation name, used to persuade his little sister to pray the rosary with him: "You will be very beautiful & everyone will love you if you really love God."

de Montfort is well-known for his writings on the rosary & Marian consecration, a practice that had been recommended to him in his youth by a local priest. He was ordained in A.D. 1700 & spent the next 16 years preaching missions in his homeland & working as a hospital chaplain He went back & forth quite a bit, for the hospital reforms he promoted made him enemies.

But de Montfort was also so beloved by the poor he served that one time, 400 of them petitioned for his return to the hospital. Though he wished to be a missionary to New France ( Canada ), the pope told him to stay in France. Louis became a 3rd Order Dominican , & his missions included promoting the rosary. He took time to catechize children, composing rhyming songs to help them learn more easily & enjoyably.
de Montfort founded the Daughters of Wisdom to continue his work of caring for the poor, the sick , & children Worn out with his work, he died at 43 with a song on his lips :
"Let us go, dear friends, to Paradise. Whatever one gains in this, it's better in Paradise!"
R./ Allons, mes chers amis,
Allons en Paradis !
Quoi qu'on gagne en ces lieux,
Le Paradis vaut mieux !
Heavenly Father, through the prayers of your son Louis Marie, may my devotion to Mary bear fruit in the loving and careful handing-on of the faith.
