Some people don't like oatmeal & think it is cruel & unusual punishment to force prisoners to eat it.
It seems Quaker Oats company had their work cut out for them trying to make Americans eat oatmeal - according to an American POW during the War of 1812 - Americans of his era detested eating oatmeal & thought it was only fit to be fed to farm animals
