Women don't seem to wear hats as much as they used to, I blame Vatican II.From Perry Mason "The Case of the Duplicate Daughter"
Daniel Boone's wife, Patricia Blair, wore a funky hat in "The Case of the Badgered Brother"
Fancy people have fancy hats in "The Case of the Torrid Tapestry "
and poor, downtrodden people have poor downtrodden hats:
The Art of Manliness blog lamented the loss of men's hats on their March 1, 2008 post "Bringing Back the Hat" Not certain if it's fair to blame Vatican II for men not wearing hats, but I don't care about fairness and will blame VII anyway.
